Welcome to Currie Primary School and Sunshine Playgroup

Currie Primary and Sunshine Playgroup is well established as a school at the heart of the local community. Opened in 1890 in Cosgrave Street and relocated to the landmark building previously known as Mountcollyer High School in 1989.  During the past 30 years our school has developed a reputation for putting the needs of our children and their families at the core of all we do.  We achieved the Marjorie Boxall Quality Mark in 2017 in recognition for the nurturing provision at Currie Primary.

Our school motto, ‘Light a light for the future’ leads us in our promotion of life-long learning and connections. We believe that every child should reach their full potential in life and encourage children to discover their individual strengths, talents and uniqueness.  Our inclusive ethos allows children to grow and develop in a safe and caring environment.

At Currie Primary and Sunshine Playgroup we provide an extensive programme for learning by linking with our partner school Holy Family Primary, local North Belfast schools, community organisations and beyond! We believe that linking with others provides new opportunities for our pupils, staff and parents.

Our second Eco School Green Flag was achieved in 2018 following our Best Kept School Award in 2017 putting Currie Primary firmly on the map!

We do not have an open day at Currie Primary or Sunshine Playgroup and would prefer if you wish to visit our school that you contact the school office on 02890747982 and arrange a time to come see us as we are!
